Spring 2019 Transfer Admission Update

  David Graves      June 14th, 2018

This week, our office started reviewing Spring 2019 transfer applications. This is earlier than I expected, but we are progressing well with Summer/Fall transfer updates and final HS transcript reviews for freshmen. The 8/15 application deadline for spring has not passed and we are still receiving applications and documents, so we cannot say how long it will take us to finish or guess when you will hear a decision.  If you applied for the spring term, please be sure to check your Status page to see if we have your most up-to-date transcript(s). If you were enrolled in coursework this summer and have not sent a transcript with your summer grades, you should have one sent as soon as possible.  To be complete and ready to review, we must have a transcript from each college/university you have previously attended.  If you are attending a new college starting in the Fall 2018 semester, we do not need a transcript, as there will not be any grades on the transcript. If you are admitted, we will need a transcript when fall term is done, though, as we will need to post these grades. Just like Summer and Fall transfer decisions, we will release our decisions every Friday in the late afternoon, and emails will go out to students roughly 20 minutes after a decision is released indicating a change to a student’s status (no decision information is in the email, as it directs applicants to the status page for a decision). As such, there […]

Spring 2018 Transfer Update

  David Graves      June 15th, 2017

Today, our office started reviewing Spring 2018 transfer applications. This is earlier than I expected, but we are way ahead of the timelines we have predicted for Summer/Fall transfers updates and final HS transcript reviews for freshmen. The 8/15 application deadline for spring has not passed and we are still receiving applications and documents, so we cannot say how long it will take us to finish or guess when you will hear a decision.  If you applied for the spring term, please be sure to check your Status page to see if we have your most up-to-date transcript(s). Spring 2017 Transfer Reviews

  David Graves      July 5th, 2016

Today, our office started reviewing Spring 2017 transfer applications. This is earlier than I expected, but we are way ahead of the timelines we have predicted for Fall transfers files and final HS transcripts for freshmen. The 8/15 application deadline for spring has not passed and we are still receiving applications and documents, so we cannot say how long it will take us to finish or guess when you will hear a decision.  If you applied for the spring term, please be sure to check your myStatus to see if we have your most up-to-date transcript(s).  If you were enrolled in coursework this summer and have not sent a transcript with your summer grades, you should have one sent as soon as possible.  To be complete and ready to review, we must have a transcript from each college/university you have previously attended.  If you are attending a new college starting in the Fall 2016 semester, we do not need a transcript, as there will not be any grades on the transcript. If you are admitted, we will need a transcript when fall term is done, though, as we will need to post these grades. Transfer decisions are made on a daily basis Monday through Friday, and it varies on how many decisions we can make in a day due to the complexity of some transfer files. The myStatus page is updated in the early a.m. every business morning, and decisions are posted on the myStatus page and are mailed to transfer applicants. We […]

Spring 2016 Decisions

  David Graves      June 11th, 2015

Next week, our office started reviewing Spring 2016 transfer applications. This is much earlier than I expected, but we are way ahead of the timelines we have predicted for Fall transfers files and final HS transcripts for freshmen. October Update on 2012 Spring Applicants

  David Graves      October 7th, 2011

At this point in time, we are finished with Spring transfer decisions, and with much celebration by both the applicants and our office. We actually still have about 20 files that are being held and reviewed by our faculty, and they will hear something in about 2 weeks, but everyone else is done. We will be sending out emails this afternoon to roughly 200 Spring transfer applicants who were incomplete or late with materials, from no application fees to missing/late transcripts. Unfortunately, we are not able to move forward with any of the late/incomplete files, as we already extended the deadline out three weeks beyond the 9/1 deadline for supporting documents to be received. As for Spring freshman applicants, we have made decisions on all complete files at the beginning of the week, and we will be sending out incomplete emails next week to the small number of students who did not send in the required materials. The orientation site will open up in late October, and that is the next step for accepted students (transfers do not send in commitment deposits, so orientation is how you let us know you will be attending UGA). Congratulations to all admitted Spring students, and we look forward to seeing you in January. Now, we turn our sites on the Early Action freshman applicants. Go Dawgs!

Spring Applicant Update part II

  David Graves      October 8th, 2010

As I promised last week, here is the update on Spring admissions: All freshman decisions have been made, and the decisions have been mailed out. Spring freshman application numbers are always small, so I will not go into details about the exact information. Transfers: Of the 1,460 or so Spring transfer applicants, here is the rundown of the decisions. 956 transfer applicants have been admitted. 305 transfer applicants have been denied. 156 transfer applicants are incomplete (missing application fee, no transcript, incomplete transcripts, etc.). 41 transfer applicants are still being reviewed, and the delay many times is due to either  very complicated transcripts, a faculty member wanting to review the file, or some other oddity. 1 student canceled their application (just thought I would throw that one in here). Decision letters have been sent to all accepted or denied applicants, while emails were sent out earlier this week to the incomplete applicants. This list does not include study abroad applicants or students applying to the Griffin or Tifton campuses. These students should work with the contact people within those programs. I hope this has helped everyone with their application process, and now accepted Spring students should start signing up for orientation (477 transfers have already signed up, and 72 freshman have as well). Go Dawgs (and beat Tennessee)!

Spring Admissions Update

  David Graves      September 10th, 2010

Since we are about a week out from the Spring admissions deadline, I thought that I would give everyone a heads up on where we are at this point in time for both Spring freshman and transfers. I expect that in about 2 weeks, we will release decisions on all Spring freshman, so I heavily suggest that all Spring freshman applicants check their myStatus page and make sure that all required materials are here! We cannot move forward with a decision if all materials are not in. As for Spring transfers, we received just under 1,500 applications, and we have made decisions on roughly half of those files so far. In looking at the day-to-day progress, we have been averaging around 40 transfer decisions per work day, so I expect that we will have most decisions out by late September. We still have a number of Spring transfer applicants with incomplete files, so hopefully the transcripts are in the mail. Please double check your myStatus, make sure we have up-to-date transcripts, and remember that we need transcripts from every college you have attended. Go Dawgs!

Spring Admission Deadline Changed to Sept. 1

  David Graves      May 11th, 2010

Every May, a small group of UGA admissions people gather to discuss the past year’s admission cycle, and to look at the next year in order to plan out the admissions process for the future. We talk about what worked, what needs to be tweaked (or changed altogether!), and how we can make the next year an even better year for both admissions and the applicants. Over the next month or so, I will talk about the changes that are in store for the application process, but I thought I would start with the easiest one. For the Spring 2011 term, the deadline for both applying and submitting all required materials is shifting from September 15 to September 1. This might not seem like a big deal, but we hope that this will give us more lead time for freshman and transfer application review for the Summer/Fall 2011 terms, while still allowing Spring applicants enough time to get in all the necessary materials. Two weeks saved in September means two possible weeks saved later in the process. Applicants should have no problem getting in Spring work, and if they are attending summer school, they should still have almost a month to get in that work. So it is official, the Spring deadline is now September 1! Go Dawgs!
