Scholarships for Students Fluent in Spanish
With the financial support of the Goizueta Foundation, the University of Georgia is pleased to offer the opportunity to apply for the Goizueta Foundation Scholarships. The Goizueta Foundation Scholarship programs support students with financial need (as determined by analysis of the FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid application), and who are fluent in Spanish. Students must be residents of the state of Georgia and may be either first-year or transfer applicants.
To be considered for this scholarship, students must meet all of the following criteria.
- A submitted First Year (Early Action or Regular Decision) or Transfer-Athens application
- Demonstrated fluency in Spanish
- A citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
- Students must be residents of the state of Georgia
- Demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid
Students interested in applying for the Goizueta Foundation scholarship are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible and may complete the scholarship application using the button at the bottom of this page. Scholarship applicants must have applied for either First-Year or Transfer admission prior to completing the scholarship application. Interested applicants may submit the Goizueta Scholarship Application prior to receiving an admissions decision.
Each of the scholarships is renewable for a set number of terms or until the student completes their baccalaureate degree. Eligibility will be determined by a selection committee and will consider the student's financial need, a review of their scholarship application and proof of fluency in Spanish (as certified by a Spanish teacher at their school). Additional criteria may apply for some of the scholarships.
The Goizueta Foundation scholarship carries a minimum value of $3,000 per academic year. All first-year scholarships are renewable for a total of 8 terms of full-time enrollment or until the student completes their baccalaureate degree. Transfer student scholarships are renewable for 5 terms of full-time enrollment or until the student completes their baccalaureate degree. Students must maintain a 2.8 GPA for renewal each year.
