While there can be a lot of details to know about applying to college, we’ve summarized the key three things you need to know about applying to UGA.

1. Application Types and Materials

You can apply to UGA in two different ways – through the Common App or our Institutional Application.  To find out more information about how to apply and the required materials, please visit the First Year page.

2. Early Action versus Regular Decision

Applicants for Early Action (EA) and Regular Decision (RD) undergo the same review process, which means that the choice is really a matter of timing. The best way to answer that question is to rephrase it to: “Is my application ready now?”

Both of our application types are non-binding, so the choice is up to you. If you want to get a decision earlier in the fall semester, we recommend applying Early Action. If you want a little bit of your senior year under your belt, we recommend applying Regular Decision.

3. Dates and Deadlines

Early Action has a deadline of October 15 and decisions are typically released by early December.  Regular Decision has a deadline of January 1 and decisions are typically released in mid-March.  Students have until May 1 to submit a commitment deposit.  If you’d like a more comprehensive review of our dates and deadlines, please visit our Deadlines page.
