The college search and scholarship process can be a daunting task for students and parents.  UGA reminds you to work directly with the colleges you are considering and to use caution when approached by individuals or companies promising scholarships or admissions-related services with fee requirements.  Make sure that any assistance you receive is from a reputable source and  that you verify any promises of scholarships or overnight programs with representatives from your potential colleges and universities first.

Updates and Suggestions for Freshman Applicants

For 2010 applicants, several features have been added to our web site. The updated admissions essays can be found here (the freshman application will be up in mid-August), along with suggestions for writing admissions essays. In addition, UGA has started an admissions blog, which can be found here and you can click here for hints on applying to college.

New Transfer Requirements for Spring 2010

Starting in the Spring 2010 term, the transfer admission requirement for transfer students with 60 hours or more of transferable credit is a 2.80 or higher overall transfer GPA to be considered for transfer admission to UGA. Click here for more information.

Kiplingers ranks Athens 5th on Best Cities list

Athens has been rated as one of the best places in America to live, according to Kiplinger's Magazine.  Athens ranks 5th on the Magazine's recent "2009 Best Cities "list, which focuses on places that have stable employment plus the talent to create new, well-paying positions.   Read more  here

CURO Promising Scholars 2009 Announced

Muktha Natrajan named Goldwater Scholar

UGA Honors student Muktha Narajan was named a 2009 Goldwater Scholar, one of only 278 students selected throughout the nation. Natrajan, a sophomore from Augusta, is pursuing a combined bachelor's/master's program in the fields of genentics and public health, and has been involved in biomedical research through the UGA CURO program.
