Transfer International Application Requirements

In order for an application to be complete and receive full consideration, all international Transfer applicants must submit the following four items:

1.Transfer Application for Undergraduate Admission with Application Fee

2. Transcripts

3. Minimum Transfer Requirements

Only transferable coursework on an official Transcript or Evaluation, submitted by the application deadline will be used to calculate minimum hour and GPA requirements. In Progress credits are not used to meet the hour and GPA requirements.

Minimum Requirements

30 or more semester hours and 3.30 GPA OR 60 hours or more and a GPA minimum of 2.8

Transferable Coursework

Guidelines for Transferable Coursework include college level credit applied towards a Bachelor's or Associate's degree. Non-transferable coursework includes English as a second language, more than one hour of Physical Education, all applied, technical, diploma or certificate program credit.

4. English Proficiency

International Transfer Credit Resources

UGA uses a Credit Evaluation to determine if an applicant from a non-U.S. institution meets hour and GPA requirements. English as a second language credits and Physical Education credits are generally not transferable. International credit is articulated to the UGA record as S grades. If the Admissions Office is not able to determine a specific transfer for a course, Transfer Electives are assigned (MATH 1T01). UGA Advisers and Departments will assist with determining how Transfer Electives can be applied more directly towards a UGA degree.

The UGA Bulletin lists all UGA degrees, courses, requirements and department contacts.

Students With Fewer Than 30 Transferable Hours

Sophomore Transfers

  • Have 30-59 semester hours of transferable credit by the application deadline
  • Have completed at least one year of college by the term of intended enrollment
  • Must have a 3.30 or higher transfer GPA to be considered for admission, though there is no minimum GPA that guarantees admission.

Junior and Senior Transfers

Accepted Applicants

Accepted applicants create a MyUGA account to access Degree Works and Athena advising systems with detailed information about transferred classes.

At Orientation, advisors will further determine how classes are used towards your degree.

Scholarships available through individual academic departments are typically awarded to upperclassmen, but prospective students should consult the web pages of their intended department and school for information regarding departmental scholarships awarded to incoming students.
