The Spring Admission application opened on May 31, and we plan on releasing the Spring Transfer decisions on Friday, August 15 at 4 pm. For both freshman and transfer admission, UGA has specific enrollment goals for new students to ensure that they have access to the resources needed to have a successful academic career. In order to serve our students best, UGA has planned out our enrollment numbers, and the transfer enrollment goals for UGA can be seen at our UGA Enrollment Management website. UGA is dedicated to providing a great educational experience to our students, and as such we need to make sure they have access to the resources needed to be successful. Applicants will still need to meet the set consideration levels to be considered for transfer admission. We are now seeing a larger number of students applying as transfers, so our office needs to take steps to make sure we enroll the correct number of students. As such, here are a few steps we will be taking for the Spring 2026 transfer applicant pool to hit our targeted enrollment goals.
- The application and materials deadline for Spring transfers was July 15. We will be reviewing transfer files throughout mid July and early August, but we will need to hold off on releasing any decisions until we are able to look at the overall applicant pool and make decisions in order to hit our enrollment goals. The UGA Transfer admissions process is not rolling, but instead we will have one date where the decisions are released.
- For transfer students who well exceed our transfer consideration levels, we will move forward with an admission offer. The threshold for Spring 2026 is a 3.50 or higher transfer GPA for students with 30-59 completed transfer hours or a 3.20 or higher transfer GPA for students with 60 or more completed transfer hours.
- For transfer students on the lower range of our transfer consideration levels, we will conduct a secondary review to look at additional information. The threshold for Spring 2026 is a 3.30-3.49 transfer GPA for students with 30-59 completed transfer hours or a 3.00-3.19 transfer GPA for students with 60 or more completed transfer hours.
- This secondary review will include reviewing the transfer admission purpose statement to let us know more about your academic plans, grade trends, a review of your coursework and how it aligns with your future academic major, etc. Our goal in both our academic review and in this more detailed review is to make sure a student is prepared for the rigorous coursework at UGA.
- Once UGA Admissions has reviewed the entire transfer applicant pool and projected out the yield numbers to ensure our enrollment numbers, we will then be able to make decisions.
- More details on the Transfer applicant pool and the accepted group will be released on 8/15.
I hope this helps better explain the Transfer Admissions Process for everyone.
Go Dawgs!
