At 4 pm ET today, August 15, UGA will release the transfer decisions for the Spring 2026 applicant pool. Just like with our freshman decisions, UGA is committed to ensuring that all students have a wonderful experience during their time here. For incoming transfer students, this includes ensuring they can enroll in necessary classes, providing academic and personal assistance to them, and supporting them to graduate in the earliest timeframe possible. However, we have a limited capacity for transfers, with a maximum enrollment of 1,000-1,100 students for the spring semester. We admitted a large group of students based on their academic merit, and we also admitted a group of students based on both an academic and holistic review which I outlined in a previous transfer admissions blog post. In our review, we want to make sure that students are academically ready for UGA and the classes they will take in the future coursework at UGA. Students might also want to review the Transfer FAQ site, as this can give more details on how we review transcripts, how we review hours, etc.
Total Applicants: Approximately 1,620+ students applied for Transfer Admission, and we will offer admission to roughly 1,270+ students today. Please remember that not all students who are admitted will enroll, as they have a number of different options ahead of them. Based on several years of prior enrollment data, we project that these offers of admission, along with the few remaining files without decisions, will result in roughly 1,000-1,200 enrolling students (enrolling meaning actually being on campus and taking classes). There may be a small number of students (less than 30) who will not hear a decision yet due to other issues.
Overall Academic Information: The average GPA for the overall applicant pool was a 3.54 GPA, and for admitted students, the average GPA was a 3.66 GPA. As you can see from the graphic, this is a strong group of admitted transfer students.
Go Dawgs!
