All applicants meeting the following definitions must complete the Application for Transfer, Nontraditional and Transient Admission and submit it along with an official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended, including work completed through joint or dual enrollment programs. To be official, a transcript must be submitted from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope by the respective deadline. To avoid delays in processing, please be sure to include your full legal name and correct Social Security number on all documents submitted in conjunction with your application for admission. If you are a returning military service member, you should also access our Returning Service Members Form to see if you meet the criteria for additional assistance.
A transfer applicant has attended one or more regionally accredited postsecondary institution(s) since graduation from high school, may have earned course credit transferable to the University of Georgia, but has never attended UGA as more than a Transient. Transfer applicants must have attended another college after HS graduation for at least an academic year prior to enrolling at UGA. For the most current information on transfer admission criteria and deadlines, prospective transfers should visit the Transfer Admission section of our Web site. If you are interested in transferring to UGA at Tifton or Griffin, please see the last definition below.
At the University of Georgia, applicant files are classified as “international” if they meet any of the criteria listed below.
- English is not the applicant’s first language.
- The applicant has completed some of his/her education outside the United States. (Note: This does not apply to exchange programs with U.S. schools.)
- The applicant is not a U.S. citizen (applicant is a green card holder, is currently in the U.S. on a visa, or needs a student [F1] visa).
An international student is classified as transfer if s/he has completed post-secondary coursework at either a U.S. or a non-U.S. institution.
Different application materials are needed for each of the above circumstances, so review carefully our Admission Information for International Students to see what is needed in your specific case.

A non-traditional applicant must submit a letter with the application for admission detailing activities since high school and explaining the desire to attend the University of Georgia, as well as an official, sealed copy of their high school transcript.
