You will begin your UGA adventure at Transfer Orientation, a one-day program designed to prepare you for a successful beginning to your UGA experience. This program will give you a head-start in learning how to take full advantage of the many educational, social, and cultural opportunities awaiting you at UGA.
Orientation for transfer students beginning their enrollment in the Spring term will take place on December 9th and 17th, 2009 and January 5, 2010. Check-in will begin at 8:00 AM in the Tate Student Center at the main entrance to the Grand Hall, located on the 5th floor. Orientation is necessary for you to meet with your assigned academic advisor and register for classes. Also, you will meet future classmates, purchase your UGACard student ID, hear from faculty and staff about opportunities and expectations, tour the campus, and discuss additional questions or concerns with specially trained student Orientation Leaders.
At Orientation you will attend the academic area meeting in the school or college to which you were admitted. At or prior to the academic area meeting you will receive an advisement appointment time. Class registration for Spring semester will take place only after meeting with an advisor. Classes begin on Thursday, January 7, 2010.
Orientation Session Dates
Do not make reservations or travel plans until session assignments have been confirmed. The following Orientation sessions are available for incoming Transfer students for Spring Semester 2010:
- Wednesday, December 9, 2008
- Thursday, December 17, 2009
- Tuesday, January 5, 2010
Please note: Students should plan to attend early sessions as there is limited space available on January 5th. Sessions that have filled up and are no longer available may or may not be visible in the online Orientation session reservation system.
Orientation Registration Deadline
You must sign up for your Orientation session by 11:30 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2009.
Parents
Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the same Orientation session as their student. Click here for Parent Orientation information.
IMPORTANT: Signing up for Orientation will incur a $40 charge to your student account that must be paid. This is a registration and reservation fee. It is the student's responsibility to pay this fee regardless of attendance at Orientation or enrollment at the University of Georgia.
The UGA Orientation reservation system is available from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. each day.
