at Tifton Campus and the UGA at Griffin Campus.
All applicants meeting the following definitions must complete the
2007 Application for Transfer, Nontraditional and Transient Admission
and submit it along with an official transcript(s) from all colleges
or universities attended, including work completed through joint or
dual enrollment programs. To be official, a transcript must be submitted
from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope by the respective
deadline. To avoid delays in processing, please be sure to include
your full legal name and correct Social Security number on all documents
submitted in conjunction with your application for admission.
Transfer
A transfer applicant has attended one or more accredited postsecondary
institution(s) since graduation from high school, may have earned course
credit transferable to the University of Georgia, but has never attended
UGA. For the most current information on transfer admission criteria
and deadlines, prospective transfers should visit the Transfer
Admissions section of our Web site. If you are interested in transferring
to UGA at Tifton or Griffin, please see the last definition below.
International Transfer
At the University of Georgia, applicant files are classified as “international” if
they meet any of the criteria listed below.
- English is not the applicant’s first language.
- The applicant has completed some of his/her education outside the United States. (Note: This does not apply to exchange programs with U.S. schools.)
- The applicant is not a U.S. citizen (applicant is a green card holder, is currently in the U.S. on a visa, or needs a student [F1] visa).
An international student is classified as transfer if s/he has completed post-secondary coursework at either a U.S. or a non-U.S. institution.
Different application materials are needed for each of the above circumstances, so review carefully our Admission Information for International Students to see what is needed in your specific case.
Nontraditional
A nontraditional applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
have been out of high school for at least five years and have a high
school class that graduated at least five years ago; hold a high
school diploma from an accredited or approved high school, or have
satisfactorily completed the GED; and have earned fewer than 30 transferable
semester hours of college credit. A nontraditional applicant must
submit a letter with the application for admission detailing activities
since high school and explaining the desire to attend the University
of Georgia, as well as an official, sealed copy of their high school
transcript. Any nontraditional applicant who cannot submit current
official SAT I or ACT scores must take the COMPASS examination. Please
contact our University Testing Services at (706) 542-TEST for details.
Summer Transient
A summer transient applicant intends to enroll in classes at the University of Georgia during the summer term only and subsequently to return to his or her home institution. The Terry College of Business does not admit transient students. Students who wish to enroll in summer business courses offered by the Terry College, or to enroll in courses on UGA’s Athens campus during the Fall or Spring terms, must meet all transfer admission criteria, including deadlines. Summer transient applicants must submit an official letter or other proof of good standing—such as an official transcript—from their home institution to be considered for admission. Transient admission to UGA’s May term is not possible.
Note: Transient credit earned at UGA cannot be considered as part
of any future transfer application to the University of Georgia.
Post-Baccalaureate
A post-baccalaureate applicant holds a bachelor’s degree from
an accredited college or university, plans to enroll in additional
undergraduate courses, but does not intend to seek an undergraduate
degree from UGA. A post-baccalaureate applicant must furnish official
transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended and must meet
all transfer admission criteria, including deadlines and the GPA requirement
for transfer admission to his or her major area of study. The Terry
College of Business does not admit post-baccalaureate students.
Second-Degree
An applicant for a second degree holds a bachelor’s degree from
an accredited college or university, plans to enroll in additional
undergraduate courses, and intends to earn an additional undergraduate
degree from UGA. An applicant seeking a second degree must furnish
official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended and
must meet all transfer admission criteria, including deadlines and
the GPA requirement for transfer admission to his or her major area
of study.
If you fit one of these definitions, you can now begin the 3-step process of opening a 2009 Application for Transfer Admission.
